HOW DO GREASE TRAPS WORK?

Grease traps are located between the source of the grease and the waste water sewage lines. With the high volume of the wastewater from the kitchen, a large amount of grease and other waste pass through the drain lines and into the grease trap. The grease trap separates grease and oil as well as solids. The trap allows the grease to float to the top and the solids to the bottom.

GREASE TRAP CLEANING

Grease traps need to be pumped out and cleaned on a regular basis.  The required frequency of grease trap pumping can vary greatly depending on the amount of waste produced. Certain circumstances might require weekly or daily pumping. Failure to keep a grease trap maintained can lead to foul odors backing up into the operating facility, nasty overflows, and/or expensive plumbing repairs due to clogs and drain line backups.
